Forensic Psychiatry Fellows
Michigan State University/Pine Rest Christian Mental Health Services Forensic Psychiatry Fellowship Program
As the second group of fellows to join the Michigan State University/Pine Rest Christian Mental Health Services Forensic Psychiatry Fellowship, we have been excited to work with Program Director Jarrad Morgan, DO, JD to contribute to the program’s growth. We fellows have had the opportunity to participate in a variety of civil evaluations including school risk, disability, FAA, pre-employment, and immigration as well as both state and federal criminal cases including competency to stand trial and criminal responsibility. We have worked with clients both across Michigan and outside the State.
Supervision by psychiatrists, psychologists, and neuropsychologists specializing in forensics has allowed us to implement a collaborative model for our evaluations. Discussing cases with our psychologist colleagues has helped to ensure exceptional, necessary, and timely psychological testing for our clients, leading to comprehensive evaluations.
Outside of forensic evaluations, we treat patients within the Michigan Department of Corrections, allowing us to maintain our clinical skills while gaining first-hand experience in correctional psychiatry. With additional fellowship spots opened (and filled!) for the 2024-2025 academic year, Forensic Psychiatry at Pine Rest continues to grow as a department and a training program. We have been excited to be a part of this continued growth.
